Dr. Beth Firestein was a licensed clinical psychologist who provided psychotherapy to individuals, couples, and groups since 1986. She received her Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin and completed her pre-doctoral internship at Colorado State University in Ft. Collins, Colorado. She was a fellow in two divisions of the American Psychological Association; Division 35, Society for the Psychology of Women; and Division 44, Society for the Psychology of Sexual Orientation and Gender Diversity.
Throughout her career, Dr. Firestein presented nationally and internationally, published three books (shown below), numerous chapters, and many articles. She won awards for her work, including a University Woman of Distinction award from Southern Illinois University – Carbondale, and a Distinguished Publication Award from the American Psychological Association, Society for the Psychology of Women, for her first book. In 2011, she started the Wise Women Group which led to her third book, Women Sharing Wisdom, A Facilitator’s Guide to Starting a Wise Women Group.
